Job description

The Department of Experimental and Applied Psychology Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is offering three part-time positions as Research Assistant for five months to conduct the start of a longitudinal study on the topic of ambivalence in romantic relationships. The job will be conducted EXCLUSIVELY online starting from January 2021. The research assistants will work closely with the Principal Investigator of the project (Dr. Francesca Righetti) and a VU PhD candidate who are managing the overall study. Research Assistants will be asked to 1) help with the recruitment of couples willing to participate in the study and 2) conduct the study with couples through an online platform (e.g., zoom). Research Assistants will learn more about the research process such as safe data tracking and storage methods, how to interface with research participants, and how to work collaboratively with a research team. This project is funded by a VIDI grant awarded to Francesca Righetti (see also Applicants are expected to have experience with conducting empirical studies, preferably (but not necessarily so) in psychology.


  • Having completed a bachelor program in Social Science (or being in the last year of the bachelor program)
  • Experience with conducting empirical studies
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Excellent ability to work in a team
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Be available for 10 hours per week from January to May (inclusive)
  • Have access to a reliable internet connection (good enough for Zoom calls) and a private space in which to professionally interface with research participants
  • Preferably fluent in Dutch (but non Dutch speaker will also be considered)

What are we offering?

The position will be part-time and equivalent to 10 hours a week (0,25 FTE). The salary will be in accordance with university regulations for academic personnel and ranges between € 2260 and € 2591 per month.
