Green neighbourhood
In the coming years, Ravel is taking shape as a new, green, low-traffic residential neighbourhood in the bustling heart of the Zuidas district. Designed particularly for families, this innovative neighbourhood offers a mix of housing types, with 1,350 units in all split across 40% social rental, 40% mid-rent and 20% owner-occupied homes. The development will be built in four stages, taking approximately three years each. Construction commenced in April 2023 and the final stage should be completed in or around 2035.

Safe living environment
Water in the form of the Boelegracht constitutes an important experiential and recreational component of the new neighbourhood. Designed to offer a safe and pleasant living environment, Ravel’s minimal car traffic and wealth of space for residents to meet, hang out, get active and play make it an oasis of tranquillity. A new road, Ravellaan, provides access to the neighbourhood, with underground car parks and a car-free centre. Public spaces have park landscaping with water features and green strips to both promote biodiversity and provide opportunities for recreation.

Services and amenities
Ravel also accommodates a wide range of services and amenities, including office and commercial space, public services, a school and cafés and restaurants. The Zuidas Children’s Campus, with a primary school and nursery, will get a prominent spot in the neighbourhood, relocating to brand new premises in the heart of Ravel in 2025. With all these amenities, Ravel promises to be a vibrant, self-sufficient neighbourhood with all essentials within easy reach. The Harmony, a 35,000-squaremetre mixed-use complex designed by Powerhouse Company, will contribute to this, with 63 social rental apartments, 85 mid-rent apartments, community-tailored amenities and high-quality office space. Ravel’s first residential development, Tic-Tac-Toe, consists of 75 mid-rent family homes averaging 80 square metres, most earmarked for families.

Ravel construction stages
The zoning plan for Ravel was adopted in 2021 and finalised in 2022. Development is taking place in four construction stages. Construction of the new Zuidas Children’s Campus started in March 2024, followed by the Ravelly residential block in June. Work along Beethovenstraat will start in late 2024 or early 2025, followed by construction of the towers along the new Maurice Ravellaan. With each stage, the completion of Ravel will come another step closer.
